We develop the Nordic welfare model

Disability issues, Integration, Public health, Welfare policy

11 Mar 2014

Although there are some national differences in the Nordic welfare systems, there are also great similarities between the countries. National differences provide opportunities for comparison and learning from each other’s experiences. The Nordic Centre for Welfare and Social Issues is a key-actor in promoting and developing Nordic welfare.

There is a growing national and international interest in the Nordic welfare model, and Nordic countries rank high on most lists comparing national differences in living conditions and social security. However, challenges such as the global financial crisis and an ageing population in the Nordic region require development of the Nordic welfare model.

Our work aims to develop strategic input to politicians, to compile research findings and arrange Nordic and international conferences relating to current welfare issues.
