Nordic network on complex welfare services
Disability issues
The network constitutes an arena at state level in the Nordic countries for reflection, discussion and knowledge sharing on structural solutions to wicked problems of structuring and coordination of complex welfare services.
The Nordic welfare model faces a number of challenges, and one of these concerns ensuring sufficient and holistic welfare services. The welfare system is complex and requires cooperation and coordination across sectors.
The discussions in the network have a user perspective and therefore look at how systems and structures promote and hinder holistic welfare services. Thus, the main challenge addressed in the network concerns organisation, responsibility, coordination and cooperation between the state, regions, counties, municipalities, or other local authorities.
The network has three main activities. Firstly, the network meets every second year. The first network meeting took place in Iceland in 2023, and Denmark will host the next network meeting in 2025. Secondly, the network organises a Nordic seminar every second year starting in Sweden in 2024. These seminars are open to a wider field of participants. Thirdly, the network collects knowledge from the various countries with a view to exploring and identifying improvements. Preliminary results from an initial mapping are expected to be presented at the network seminar in 2024.
