Nordic Forum on Disability 2017 – Human Rights, Disability and Research
Disability issues
Welcome to this Nordic meeting place for researchers, policy makers and civil society. During three days we will discuss the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and suggest actions for more effective implementation of the UNCRPD in the Nordic region.
The Nordic forum on disability, human rights and research has been developed with inspiration from the International Summer School on Disability and Rights at the University of Galway. The Forum will have a special focus on the general comments developed by the United Nations committee on the rights of persons with disabilities. Especially the general comments on Article 9 on Accessibility and 12 on Equal recognition before the law.
Among the speakers we are honered to present:
- Professor Rannveig Traustadóttir, Iceland University
- Professor Gerard Quinn, Galway University
- Honorary Doctor Kalle Könkkölä, Kynnys ry
By arranging this forum, our goal is to:
Inspire new collaborations between researchers, but also in cooperation with other actors.
Increasing interest among several target groups to increase knowledge and research on disability and human rights, on the national, Nordic as well as other international level.
