Nordic Research Network on Deafblindness
Deafblindness
The Nordic Research Network on Deafblindness is committed to fostering a collaborative research environment that prioritises the needs of individuals who are deafblind and their surroundings.
Through collective efforts, we aim to advance understanding, influence policy, and enhance the quality of life for this unique population. It is essential that we recognize the diversity and individuality of each person living with deafblindness and advocate for tailored interventions that respect their unique communication and support needs. Together, we aim to make meaningful progress in addressing the complexities of deafblindness in the Nordic region.
The Network is a platform that brings together researchers across the Nordic region and the Netherlands to enhance understanding, research, and best practices regarding deafblindness. Given the unique challenges faced by individuals with deafblindness, the network is dedicated to advancing knowledge and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to improve the quality of life for the target group. Individuals with deafblindness is a small and heterogenous population which can make research challenging and fragmented. It limits possibilities to generalise, hence the network provides a possibility to collaborate to increase population numbers in research and thereby resources can be used more efficient.
