Nordic youth summit: Nordic youth and Pandemic – preparing for involvement of our young during crises
Children & young people
There is a need to acquire more knowledge about how local communities in the Nordic region can become better at safeguarding children and young people’s right to be heard and involved in during crises.
At the Nordic youth summit in Oslo, Norway 17th and 18th of October we finalize an ongoing Nordic youth co-operation process, on how the right to be heard can be secured during crisis. Nordic youth experts in co-operation with invited government officials aim to prepare Nordic local government bodies and other relevant key actors prepare for future crisis. They will propose better tools for engaging and involving youth locally in the community and in the decision-making processes during crises. The outset is the lessons made during the COVID 19-pandemic. Three central arenas have been looked at: in youth councils in municipalities, in student councils at schools and in youth organizations or youth unions in political parties.
The result of the cooperation process will be made available in a report aimed at Nordic decision-makers with compiled recommendations and best practice. You are welcome to contact the process leaders and moderators, Lisa Sjöblom and Tove Kjellander, if you have any questions.
