Rushy Rashid Højbjerg (Denmark)
I am currently an associate partner at Hudson Nordic, where I continue to leverage my experience in recruitment and headhunting while expanding my scope to include conducting workshops, moderating events, and delivering lectures. My role has broadened significantly over time, and I am now deeply involved in leadership coaching, holding an ICF (International Coach Federation) certification. Over my tenure, I have conducted more than 200 coaching sessions with hiring leaders and candidates. I also remain passionate about leading diversity and inclusion efforts, having spearheaded Hudson’s CSR initiatives and the Hudson All Inclusive workshops. Additionally, I produce and host our “Hudson All Inclusive” podcast, which focuses on DEIB initiatives and leadership across various industries.
Areas of expertise: I have been through all phases of integration, starting as that child in third grade, who started in school at the age of 9, without knowing a single word of Danish, and eventually became a household name as the very first TV host with an immigrant background and thereby shattered the glass ceiling in the media field. I then went on to marry a Danish man and did not run away. I insisted on having the right to choose my own way of life. I documented my journey with a trilogy about 40 years of immigration in Denmark, highlighting the challenges I faced growing up in Denmark as a child of two immigrant parents who never truly settled in or packed out their bags.
My professional experience includes 26 years in journalism in both the print and electronic media, with roles as a reporter, tv and radio host, editor, and columnist, providing me with a comprehensive background in communication. My expertise extends to diversity and inclusion, honed through my roles as a diversity coordinator at IKEA DK and CSR consultant at Tryg Forsikring. I’ve had the privilege of leading initiatives such as the Heart Association project to address rising heart disease rates among minority groups in Denmark. For this, I developed the project, managed fundraising, edited and produced a cookbook, and designed an educational training programme and trained 65 trainers who have been out in their local areas teaching 10 people each to cook their daily food in a healthier version. Additionally, my fluency in Danish, English, Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi, coupled with my multicultural background, enriches my ability to connect with diverse groups.
Passion in Life: At the heart of my career is a deep passion for working with people and fostering communication. I view myself as both a “head- and hearthunter” — someone who not only seeks the right skills and qualifications but also takes into account the whole person. Helping individuals grow, whether through coaching, mentoring, or facilitating diversity and inclusion efforts, is something I find incredibly fulfilling. My commitment to improving lives and creating a positive societal impact is also reflected in my work with communities, including producing a cookbook and training trainers to help minority groups. Ultimately, my passion lies in fostering meaningful connections and empowering individuals to be their best selves, both professionally and personally.
