This Nordic study plan provides a framework for professionals working with individuals with deafblindness. Developed through a collaborative process involving experts from across the Nordic countries, the plan supports the planning and implementation of national educational programmes.
The aim of this study plan is to contribute to a shared Nordic knowledge base and strengthen professional competence in the field of deafblindness. The study plan encourages dialogue-based learning and experience-sharing and emphasises the importance of grounding all education in research and evidence-based practice.
Bringing together and updating two earlier study plans—on congenital (2016) and acquired (2017) deafblindness—the plan reflects a growing emphasis on collaboration across professional fields. This development was also highlighted by individuals with deafblindness at the Nordic Conference on Deafblindness in 2022, where the need to bridge the gap between different groups was clearly expressed.
The study plan is intended to support educators, course leaders, and training providers in developing high-quality education that is inclusive, reflective, and informed by lived experience.
