The competence team at the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs (Bufdir) has opened 27 percent more cases over the past three years.
Norway’s National Expert Team against negative social control and honour related violence is a collaborative unit in Norway offering expertise and guidance on cases of negative social control and honour-based violence.
In 2022, they handled 891 cases, reflecting a continuous increase since 2015. The rising numbers may indicate improved awareness and competence among public service workers, leading to the discovery of more cases.
The annual report aims to share the team’s experiences with international authorities and NGOs addressing domestic violence, including honour-related violence, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, and negative social control.
The team comprises representatives from various Norwegian agencies and is coordinated by Bufdir.
