31 mar 2025
This conference report is based on the first joint Nordic network seminar on deafblindness, held in Malmö in November 2024, and summarises key outcomes with a particular focus on video analysis as a method for strengthening professional understanding across disciplines.
The seminar took place in Malmö, Sweden, from 6 to 8 November 2024, and brought together six of the eight Nordic networks coordinated by the Nordic Welfare Centre. These networks consist of practitioners, researchers and educators working in various ways to support individuals with combined vision and hearing impairments.
A central feature of the conference was the use of video analysis—an established method within the deafblind field. Each participating network analysed the same video from its specific professional perspective, resulting in a uniquely comprehensive understanding of the person featured.
This report summarises the key outcomes of the conference and the video analyses. It also includes background information on the participating networks and reflections from the participants, with the aim of promoting continued collaboration and knowledge sharing across the Nordic region.
