Webinar: Revealing hidden potentials – Assessing cognition in individuals with congenital deafblindness

In the Nordic Cognition Network professionals have for many years shared their approaches to assessment of cognition of people with congenital deafblindness. In 2014, the network published a book in which guidelines for assessment were formulated. Practitioner experiences with implementing these guidelines demonstrated a need for good practice examples. This book presents several such examples that draw on perspectives from several disciplines and connect theory to practice.

Knowledge about the structure and functioning of the brain has increased in recent decades and deepened our understanding of the neurological mechanisms of mental and cognitive development. One important task is to develop an understanding of the deafblind-specific aspects of this knowledge, and this book is a contribution to this work.

The webinar is an introduction to the book and will consist of both a theoretical part and practical examples. 

The webinar will be held on the 20^th at 13.00-16.00 and 21st of October at 13.00-14.45  (CET – Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian time) via the webinar tool Zoom. You do not need to download any applications to participate; simply connect via your internet browser.

Target group

Professionals who work with people with congenital deafblindness such as support partners or teachers, as well as professions responsible for assessment of cognition such as psychologists and specialist advisors of those supporting both children and adults with congenital deafblindness.
