Influx of Migrants Following Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine: Integration and Governance Dynamics in Nordic and Baltic States
Two years after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Nordic and Baltic states are still grappling with its implications. The influx of Ukrainian refugees and related changes in regional migration dynamics have brought along both challenges and opportunities, raising critical questions about how societies manage immigration and integration in the face of an unprecedented crisis.
This seminar will delve into the varied and cross-scaler responses of Nordic and Baltic states, offering a deep dive into ongoing migration governance and integration dynamics.
- What are the experiences of Ukrainian families and children in navigating social and educational systems in their new environments?
- Geographical mobility of refugees in view current dispersal policies, are there any inherent dilemmas?
- And, how are governance frameworks, including border control and reception facilities, adapted to cope with the changing flows of migration in a dynamic, but pressing, geopolitical context?
Leading researchers will present their work, and expert discussants will provide comments on each presentation.
