This report summarises the content of the Annual Nordic Conference on Integration held in Helsinki in 2025. The conference focused on a rapidly growing group across the Nordic countries, individuals with parents born outside the region, whose increasing size means they play an ever more important role in shaping Nordic democracies and welfare systems. The programme provided a broad overview of key factors affecting the well-being of this population.
The conference included political remarks, keynote speeches, presentations of two reports on education, labour-market participation and demographic developments, and research perspectives on belonging, acceptance, and intergenerational effects of integration policies. The second day featured a keynote, a panel discussion with youth organisations, and presentations of promising practices supporting the well-being of children of migrant parents. The conference concluded with an invitation to the 2026 Integration Conference in Copenhagen.
The conference was organised under the 2025 Finnish presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers and brought together policymakers and experts working on integration.
