The Nordic Migrant Expert Forum 2025–2027 presents 14 targeted recommendations to enhance migrant integration across the Nordic countries. These are organized into four key areas: framing and foundation, structural domains, social and relational domains, and transformative practice.

The Nordic Migrant Expert Forum is made up of 16 integration experts, all of whom were born outside the Nordic countries and have since settled in a Nordic country. They bring together knowledge in areas like the labour market, education, health and social care, gender equality, democracy, and citizenship. Combined with their personal experience of migration, this gives the Forum a unique perspective that connects professional expertise with real-life experience.

Each member has been appointed by the national ministries responsible for integration in the Nordic countries, ensuring that the Forum brings together both diversity and depth of knowledge.

Fourteen recommendations for better integration

As a joint contribution, the experts have developed 14 recommendations designed to make the integration of migrants in the Nordic countries more effective and sustainable. The recommendations are divided into four categories: framing and foundation, structural domains, social and relational domains, and transformative practice. These recommendations reflect both the structural challenges of integration and the personal journeys of those who have experienced migration firsthand. Together, they offer concrete ideas on how societies can become more inclusive while strengthening social cohesion across the region.

Launching the Forum’s vision: recommendations and stories from the experts

Today we published the Forum’s recommendations in a new publication. This document provides an overview of the experts’ proposals and serves as a valuable resource for policymakers, practitioners, and anyone interested in integration.

From now until the summer, you will also be able to dive deeper into the personal insights of each Forum member. Through a series of in-depth interviews, the experts will open up why their recommendations matter, share their experiences, and highlight the urgent changes needed to build a socially sustainable Nordic Region.

Building on a shared vision

The Nordic Migrant Expert Forum is not just a platform for dialogue, it is a bridge. By combining knowledge, lived experience, and policy perspectives, the Forum contributes directly to the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Vision 2030, with a special focus on the priority of creating a socially sustainable Nordic Region.
