What does youth need to increase mental wellbeing? That is one of the main questions that will be discussed when youth organisations meet for workshops in all of the Nordic countries, with the aim of giving youth a stronger voice. The Swedish workshop will take place at Nordic Welfare Centre next month.
The Nordic Welfare Centre is hosting one of five Nordic Youth Workshops that will take place in 2024. Giving youth a stronger voice in all matters that concerns them is a prioritised goal in Nordic cooperation. The Nordic Council of Ministers will give Nordic civil society, especially children and young people, a stronger voice and participation in Nordic cooperation.
Nordic young people will participate in national workshops and discuss what seems to be a growing trend in all countries: that young people’s mental health is deteriorating.
Workshops in all the Nordic countries
The workshop hosted by the Nordic Welfare Centre will take place at Skeppsholmen on 11th June. The invited participants represent a wide range of civil society organisations working with children and young people in Sweden. These workshops aim to inclusively engage children and youth from all Nordic countries and regions and ensuring diverse perspectives.
The organiser and responsible party is The Swedish Agency for Youth and Civil Society, MUCF, and they will arrange similar workshops in all the Nordic countries.
Poor mental health is a growing problem among youth in the Nordic countries. This is a worrying development and an urgent issue to address.
Process with three stages
MUCF, with the support of the Nordic Council of Ministers and the European Union, is leading a project focused on the mental wellbeing of children and young people across the Nordic region.
As part of the process, they are now arranging a series of preparatory workshops. The whole process contains three stages: preparatory workshops, the main conference in Stockholm on 6-7th November, and then a public event in late November, where the results are shared.
The workshops are designed to contribute to shape the agenda for the main event in November. MUCF is collaborating closely with youth representatives within NORDBUK to ensure the workshops effectively address the pressing issues facing youth mental wellbeing in the Nordic countries.
