Vammaiskysymykset
A seminar on transforming national crisis strategies and guidelines into concrete preparedness, contingency and business continuity plans that safeguard access to basic services for persons with disabilities.
This seminar will focus on how national crisis strategies and policy frameworks can be translated into concrete preparedness, contingency and business continuity plans that ensure continued access to essential services for persons with disabilities in situations of risk.
The seminar is organised by the Nordic Council of Ministers, through the Nordic Offices in the Baltic countries and the Nordic Welfare Centre, in cooperation with the Danish, Faroese and Greenlandic chairmanship of the Nordic Council on Disability.
The event takes place in the context of Article 11 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), which obliges States Parties to take all necessary measures to ensure the protection and safety of persons with disabilities in situations of risk, including humanitarian emergencies and natural disasters.
The seminar will highlight promising practices and current initiatives from the Nordic and Baltic regions. Representatives from national authorities, civil society organisations and research communities will present examples of policies, programmes and projects that aim to strengthen inclusive preparedness and crisis management.
The programme will include a practical workshop on systematic preparedness planning for persons with disabilities, contributions from the European Commission, and presentations of ongoing Nordic initiatives and projects in this field. In addition, authorities and organisations from the Baltic and Nordic countries will share experiences and lessons learned from their work to ensure that crisis preparedness systems are inclusive and accessible.
The target group for the seminar includes decision-makers, policy professionals and practitioners working in public authorities as well as in civil society organisations and NGOs across the Nordic and Baltic regions.
Through dialogue, knowledge exchange and shared learning, the seminar aims to inspire improved coordination, policy coherence and cross-sector collaboration, thereby supporting the development of more inclusive, resilient and rights-based preparedness systems in the Nordic-Baltic region.
