The national strategies of the countries

The Nordic Welfare Centre, together with the members of the Council of Nordic Cooperation on Disability, monitors what is happening in the national disability policy landscapes. Choose a country in the list below.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing (Almannamálaráðið) coordinates disability policy in the Faroe Islands and plays a key role in developing the policy area, including promoting cooperation across government sectors. The Ministry is currently preparing a new national action plan on disability.

MEGD is the umbrella organisation representing organisations of persons with disabilities in the Faroe Islands and acts as their common voice in dialogue with public authorities and policymakers.

Organisations of persons with disabilities in the Faroe Islands are currently working to establish an independent Disability Ombudsman, inspired by the model operating in Greenland.

The Faroe Islands comprise 29 municipalities.
