Abstracts
We warmly welcome abstracts related to these topics, as well as other topics within the field of social alcohol and drug research. Abstracts can be written and presented in English, Swedish, Norwegian or Danish. Abstracts should be no longer than 400 words. Participants are not required to submit full papers. We also welcome participants without abstracts.
Registration
The deadline for registration and submission of abstracts is 13.5.2018. Notification of accepted abstracts will be given 15.5.2018 per email.
The maximum number of participants is 70. Participants with accepted abstracts are prioritised. The registration fee is 150 euros.
Organisers
The conference is organised and funded by the Nordic Welfare Centre, an institute under the Nordic Council of Ministers.
Fees
The registration fee for Nordic Alcohol and Drug Researchers’ Assembly 2018 is EUR 150 and it includes lunches, coffees and participation in some social activities. Invoices will be sent to all participants upon notification of accepted abstracts from 15.5.2018.
Refund of the registration fee:

After 27 July, 2018: no refund

Voksenåsen Hotel and Conference is located 501 metres above sea level at the top of Holmenkollen with a breathtaking view over Oslo and with the Norwegian nature in focus.
A quota of hotel rooms has been reserved for NADRA participants at Voksensåsen conference centre hotel. Please book your own room before 4.7 (4th of July) by sending an e-mail to marina.djoric@voksenaasen.no. Use the code Nordens välfärdscenter to get the NADRA price; NOK 1190 per night.
We cannot guarantee that there are rooms available after 4th of July, so please book your room before July 4th. Kindly note that hotel alternatives near the conference venue are few.
Directions to the conference venue
Voksenåsen Kultur og Konferansehotel is situated in Oslo, within 9 km from Oslo city centre and 61 km from Gardermoen Airport. You can reach the hotel by public transport from the airport. The easiest and fastest way to get to the hotel is by taxi. The journey time by taxi from the airport will take approximately 50 minutes. Remember to ask the taxi for a fixed price.
Getting from the airport to the conference venue by public transport
Take the airport train (Flytoget) towards the city centre and alight at Nationaltheatret stasjon. Take the metro (T-Bane) 1 towards Frognerseteren. Enjoy the view from the train! Get off at Voksenkollen station and follow the signs to Voksenåsen Kultur og Konferansehotel (approx. 350 metres up a steep hill). Tickets are available at the train stations.
Getting from Voksenåsen Kultur og konferensehotel to the conference dinner at Soria Moria Hotel:
Soria Moria Hotel is within a 20-minute walk from Voksenåsen Kultur og Konferansehotel. Head north on Ulleveien from the conference venue. Walk 600 metres and turn left on to Voksenkollveien. Walk 900 metres to the Soria Moria Hotel.
We kindly ask you to note that regular taxis are reluctant to drive from Voksenåsen to Soria Moria. If you need transport you may pre-book a taxi with Persontransport Norge AS (+47 94 00 34 34).
Presenting at NADRA
Participants wishing to present at Nordic Alcohol and Drug Researchers’ Assembly 2018 should submit an abstract upon registration to the conference. Full papers are not required. We welcome presentations of both recently published research as well as work-in-progress.
Chairs
Prior to the start of the session the chair should make sure that all speakers have arrived and that presentations are loaded to the computer. Briefly introduce each speaker. Each presenter has a limited amount of time (10-15 minutes). Precise times will be announced in the conference programme. Please make sure that the session runs according to the schedule; sessions should not be extended into the breaks.
Presenting abstracts at the conference
Please arrive in good time before your session, introduce yourself to the chair and upload your presentation to the computer. Each presenter has a limited amount of time (10-15 minutes). Precise times will be announced in the conference programme. Please be considerate of the other speakers and do not exceed your time slot. Presentations are followed by general audience participation.
Side event
The Nordic Welfare Centre welcomes you to a seminar on drinking habits among youth and the elderly in the Nordic countries, 28.8.2018.At the seminar we will present findings from a forthcoming report mapping current Nordic research on young peoples’ drinking habits and the driving forces contributing to the declining trend in drinking among youth.
An upcoming publication exploring the effect of increased drinking among the elderly on the health and care systems will also be presented. The publication will shed light on the issue of increasing drinking among older age groups from several viewpoints, such as professionals’ experiences of alcohol related issues among clients in home care and in care homes, intervention models for the elderly in home care, and alcohol use in retirement homes.

Welcome reception
We invite all conference participants to participate in the welcome reception at the Voksenåsen conference centre bar on 29.8 at 18:00.
We will book a table at the restaurant of the conference centre at 19:00. Please let us know in the registration if you want to join us! The dinner will be self-funded.
Conference dinner
The conference dinner will be held at conference centre Soria Moria (Voksenkollveien 60) 30.8 at 19:00. A three-course meal is included in the registration fee. Drinks can be bought during the dinner. Soria Moria is located 1,5 km from Voksenåsen conference centre, about 20 minutes on foot. Please contact erika.lehtonen@nordicwelfare.org if you require transportation to and from Soria Moria.
Other activities around the conference venue:
Voksenåsen conference centre is located some 500 m above sea level with spectacular views of Oslo and its surrounding area. The area offers great opportunities for walking. Holmenkollen Ski Museum and Ski Jump Tower are not far from the conference venue and can be reached on foot or by metro. There is an outdoor swimming pool and a gym at the conference centre.
