10 Assessment of sensory functioning

Finally, the interview is summarised in a qualitative assessment of sensory functioning, structured according to the domains in the Nordic definition. The assessment should describe how the senses are used, how they may compensate for one another, and what significance this has for activity and participation.

10.1 Qualitative description

Describe the consequences of the combined sensory loss, variation between environments and situations, and the significance for energy use and social participation.

10.2 Assessor’s evaluation

On the basis of the interview, a judgement is made as to whether the person is considered to have deafblindness and whether there is a need for further assessment, advice or interventions.
