Konferens: Competence development for sustainable eldercare in the Nordic region

Demographic trends in the Nordic region mean that more older people will require care and support, whilst the workforce is shrinking. This is placing increasing pressure on health and welfare systems, particularly in sparsely populated areas.

To meet these challenges, it is essential to strengthen skills development, upskilling and retraining for staff in older adult care, with a view to ensuring adequate recruitment and retention. At the same time, new ways of working, digitalisation and the increasing complexity of residents needs place greater demands on staff skills. In a situation where both financial and staffing resources are under pressure, there is therefore a need for a strategic and continuous effort that supports staff development and their ability to handle complex tasks.

This conference marks the launch of a new report on competence development in eldercare in the Nordic region. The report presents and overview of existing research and grey literature in the Nordic region, as well as a mapping of national policies and initiatives.

The conference welcomes experts from across the Nordic region working on eldercare issues at the national, regional, or local level; policymakers, researchers, and practitioners.

Participation is free of charge but requires registration. 
The Nordic Welfare Centre reserves the right to prioritize among registrations according to the target group.
