See, listen and include! A webinar on participation for children and young people with disabilities in the Nordic region

Experts from the Nordic region will provide insight to and explore how this right in higher extent can be secured for children and young people with disabilities in the Nordic region.  

The event will be moderated by Charlotte McClain-Nhlapo, Global Disability Adviser at the World Bank Group. Speakers at the conference include Thomas Blomqvist, Minister for Nordic Cooperation and Equality in Finland and Kirsten Sandberg, professor in law at the University of Oslo. We will listen to young peoples’ ways of organizing and raising their voice in the Nordic region. Knowledge-based methods for participation and inclusion will also be presented during the webinar.

We launch our new report See, listen, and include – Participation for children and youth with disabilities in the Nordic countries. Nordic studies reveal that children and young people with disabilities do not have the same opportunities as their peers. They describe an everyday life, having less opportunities to take part in social activities. They frequently experience, being overlooked in decision-making and they seldom have a say in matters that concern them.
